What is
onyx?

Onyx is a semi-precious variety of layered chalcedony, a cryptocrystalline form of quartz. It is characterized by its parallel bands of different colours, such as white, black, brown, or red. The bands can be wavy, straight, or concentric, giving the stone a unique and striking appearance. Onyx is formed in the cavities of volcanic rocks by depositing silica from groundwater.

Onyx adds luxury to homes in several ways:

  1. Aesthetic appeal: The unique bands and translucency of onyx create a striking visual effect, making it an attractive material for interior design. The stone can be backlit to enhance natural beauty and create a warm, inviting ambience.

  2. Versatility: Onyx can be used in various applications, such as countertops, backsplashes, wall panels, flooring, fireplace surrounds, and bathroom vanities. Its adaptability allows it to be incorporated into various design styles, from modern to traditional.

  3. Exclusivity: As a semi-precious stone, onyx is relatively rare and more expensive than other commonly used materials like granite or marble. This rarity makes it a symbol of luxury and sophistication, adding an air of exclusivity to your home.

  4. Customization: Onyx can be cut, shaped, and polished according to your design preferences, allowing for a high degree of customization in your home. This level of personalization contributes to the overall luxurious feel of the space.

  5. Durability: Although onyx is somewhat softer than granite or marble, it is still durable and can last many years with proper care and maintenance. This longevity adds to its appeal as a luxurious addition to your home.

However, being aware of Onyx’s specific care requirements is essential. It is more susceptible to scratches, stains, and etching than other natural stones like granite. To maintain its beauty and luxurious appearance, you must take precautions, such as using coasters, avoiding contact with acidic substances, and periodically sealing the surface.

Disclaimer

Natural stones such as Marble, Onyx, Limestone, and Basalt each possess their unique charm, offering a touch of organic elegance and sophistication to any space. However, it is important to remember that these materials are inherently sensitive to natural imperfections such as pinholes, cracks, and colour variations. As no two pieces of natural stone are ever identical, these characteristics should not be considered defects or faults but rather part of their inherent beauty.

Our factory is committed to processing all materials by international standards and specifications to minimize or eliminate any natural flaws. We take pride in our dedicated Quality Control department, ensuring that all orders are thoroughly inspected and meet our high standards.

We understand the importance of quality assurance and welcome third-party inspections of random or entire shipments before final packing. This can be done by any international or local agency of the importer’s choice and at their expense.

It is essential to note that the quality of these materials is categorized based on how closely the selected stones match each other and the natural shade of the stone. The closer the selection, the higher the material wastage and, subsequently, the price. By understanding and appreciating this element, you can avoid any unwelcome surprises upon delivery of these stunning natural stones.
